Mindful Musings: Some questions for you to reflect on…

In the Mindful Musings series, Dr. Elise Bialylew poses thought-provoking and introspective questions. Take a moment to reflect or share with a friend this week. Remember, our relationships form the essence of our happiness and well-being.

At the beginning of each year, my partner and I sit down and brainstorm a list of nourishing experiences we want to do across the year.

So far this year, we’re ticking quite a few off the list.

One of mine was to prioritise a weekend away with some girlfriends which I recently had the luxury of doing!

After three nights together, at our final dinner I shared that my jaw was hurting from the hours of talking. My friends both laughed in agreement.

One of the things that gave us “sore jaw” was diving into my gold sequined mystery question bag. This is a bag where I keep a collection of questions that I pull out at dinners with friends to stimulate deeper conversation.

Below are a few of the questions we explored and I want to share them with you. Feel free to reflect on them yourself, journal the answers, or even more satisfyingly, share them with a friend next time you gather. I find it so refreshing to break through the small talk and discover stories about your close ones that you may never have heard.

What is a story from your childhood that illuminates the essence of you?

What’s a piece of advice that has really had an impact on your life?

What is something you’ve had to unlearn?

What is something that feels very important for you to do within the next 5 years?

How connected to others do you feel at the moment?

If your answer is “not connected enough” take time this week to reach out to a friend.

Our relationships are the source of much of our happiness and wellbeing. They are worth nourishing and prioritising.

Warmly,

Elise
