5 steps to #instameditate: meditation, creativity & community
#instameditate is a creative and mindful way of using Instagram to connect with a community of people who value self-expression, mindful living, technology, and community.
It slows Instagram down and creates a mindful trigger to remind you to tune in to your senses and take in the moment.
Ready to get started? Take these 5 steps:
1. Bring an intention to take 5-10mins for mindfulness meditation
2. Take a picture of the scene around you
3. Set a timer on your phone (Insight Timer is great) for 5-10mins (or even 1min if you like)
4. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed or open and tune in to your senses. What do you see, hear, smell, feel?
5. When the meditation is finished, enliven the photo by sharing what you have noticed using abbreviations: smell {sm}, hear {h}, feel = {f} and add the hashtag #instameditate to connect with others
Become part of a global community bringing more awareness, mindfulness and creativity into everyday life
I’d love to see your instameditations so tag @mindfulinmay or #mim2013
If you’re not into Instagram, simply take 10 mins out a day to tune into your senses and take in the moment.
Hear {h}: cars whizzing, aeroplanes flying above. Feel {f} : cool breeze, warm sun. Smell {sm} leaves & fuel…#mim2013 Share your #instameditate… #takeinthemoment
"If we wish to be healthy, happy and clear-minded, we need to upgrade our “inner technology”of attention to meet the demands of our increasingly complex world. That's where mindfulness comes in.."
